Sarah N. Brant-Rajahn

Bio

Dr. Brant-Rajahn is passionate about increasing access to mental health services and supports in schools and communities that are under-resourced and marginalized, while also working to dismantle and rebuild oppressive systems that create inequities. She specializes in counseling children, adolescents, and young adults at the intersections of race, gender, sexual, economic, and religious identity. 

 

Dr. Brant-Rajahn is an Assistant Professor of Graduate Counseling at Messiah University and the School Counseling Track Coordinator. She teaches Career Counseling Across the Lifespan, Group Counseling, Counseling Children and Adolescents, Counseling Techniques, Counseling Theories, Multicultural Issues for Counseling Professionals, Lifespan Development, Organization and Administration of School Counseling Programs, Professional Issues and Ethics for Counselors, and Elementary School Counseling Internship. She specializes in qualitative research with a focus on narrative, art-based, and visual-based approaches. Her research focuses on school racial climate and its influence on P-16 Black youth identity development, racial trauma, culturally responsive and trauma-informed counseling and research practices, multicultural and social justice andragogy and training, and qualitative methodologies.

She has presented at state, regional, and national conferences. She currently serves on the Community of Educators Senate at Messiah University and serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Counseling and Research. She previously served as the Multicultural Interest Network Chair for the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES).

​

Dr. Brant-Rajahn is a practicing clinician. She specializes in counseling families and children, adolescents, and young adults and is an Educational Consultant providing program evaluation and development services, as well as training.

​

She enjoys baking, the beach, craft projects, and spending time with her husband and children. Dr. Brant-Rajahn is also an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
